Building privacy-first tools for the future of AI
About
Hi there, I'm Sameer, the creator of MyMemory. I'm a former Amazon Principal Engineer with over 13 years of experience building large scale, mission critical distributed systems. I spent most of my career at Amazon working on foundational infrastructure products like AWS S3 and ML systems for Amazon's catalog, where I learned what it takes to build reliable, high performance systems that serve millions of customers.
I started this project with a desire to build something valuable for my customers, drawing on that extensive experience.
While I surveyed the current landscape of memory products, I didn't find a product that would meet my needs. They were either storing my data on remote "private servers," charging unbounded pricing for access, or were too rigid and inflexible to work with. Hence, I started looking for a better way, and I truly believe that with the push towards more powerful devices such as Macs with Apple Silicon, the experience of owning local AI memory and content layer will become better and better over time.
Working on products like Amazon S3, which serves as the backbone of storage for the internet, I was fortunate to work on projects as critical as S3 Strong Consistency. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for the care it takes to build reliable data products. Through my work on Amazon's Retail Science teams alongside world class AI researchers, I gained insights into how to assess and build ML systems that deliver real world value for customers. My experience building systems that handle billions of requests and serve critical infrastructure has taught me how to make the right tradeoffs between performance, reliability, and user experience.
Now I'm applying that expertise to solve a problem I face personally as an AI user, and I'm excited to bring MyMemory to my customers.
